Roll Handling & Roll Wrapping Systems
Roll Handling Capabilities
We possess extensive experience in handling rolls of varying diameters, from 6 inches to 110 inches, and weights between 10,000 to 15,000 lbs across various industries. For larger projects, we welcome the opportunity to explore custom solutions with our expert team.
Roll Wrapping Capabilities
We excel in wrapping and packaging raw materials using both Film and Kraft paper. The wrapping process can be customized, from establishing new stations to integrating into existing production lines. Our engineering team assesses a variety of factors to develop tailored solutions that optimize manufacturing processes. Our Roll Wrapping systems come with several upgrade options, including our innovative Edgegard, patented Heat Seal Technology, and automatic labeling capabilities.
What is Edgegard?
Edgegard is a robust, 20-mil thick (dependent on application) Polyethylene (PE) film that is applied during the wrapping process and is fully recyclable alongside the wrapping film. This patented material is designed to withstand wear and tear at the roll ends daily, ensuring the integrity of the packaging. Stretch film is a common choice for roll packaging, yet its reputation has suffered in some applications due to the risk of tearing when using lower-quality or thinner materials.
Add Heat Seal Technology to Save on Supplies and Reduce Mess
Our patented Heat Seal Technology can be integrated into both new and existing wrapping equipment, offering numerous advantages:
- Eliminates the need for glue to seal the film tail to the package.
- Proven technology already adopted in various wrapper upgrades.
- Utilizes four heated rollers to effectively bond the film tail at the end of the wrapping cycle.
- Prevents premature unraveling, which is a common issue when using glue that can fail after prolonged storage.
- Does not impact the current cycle time of the wrapper.
- Seamlessly integrates into the existing hold-down roller frame for simple installation.
- Includes a dedicated pre-wired electrical panel for quick setup.
- The current glue system can remain as a backup option.
- Flexibility to use either film attachment method through the HMI screen.
- Critical spare parts are stocked for rapid delivery.
- Turn-key installation and start-up services offered for smooth integration.

Stay Organized with an Optional Labeling Station
An automatic labeling system can be installed to affix labels to the finished goods before they are either stored or shipped. Our clients rely on Automatic Handling’s expertise for optimizing their labeling quality, utilizing various techniques ranging from simple mechanical devices to advanced robotic end-of-arm tooling, alongside inline radial wrapping labels.
