1. APPEARANCE OF SODIUM DICHROMATE

What is Sodium Dichromate?

Sodium Dichromate is typically used in small quantities within the quench water bath for passivation processes.

Why does it happen?

For your inquiries related to hot dipped steel coil, feel free to discuss with our knowledgeable sales team. They are ready to assist you in identifying the options that best match your requirements.

It is generally recommended to use Sodium Dichromate at concentrations of about 0.15% to 0.3%. However, during the topping up process, it is possible to add more than intended. This can lead to a noticeable dark yellow to brown hue on the galvanized surface. This deeper coloration typically provides enhanced initial protection against corrosion.

Effects, Remedies, and Responsibilities

A slight increase in the concentration of Sodium Dichromate is acceptable as it does not negatively impact corrosion control. It is, however, essential for the galvanizer to maintain sodium dichromate levels around 0.15% to 0.3% for optimal performance.
