HOW TO USE THE PLEATER
Begin by threading the necessary number of needles with the appropriate lengths of thread or elastic. It is advisable to remove any unwanted needles to prevent unnecessary holes in your fabric. For detailed instructions on adjusting or relocating needles, refer to the relevant section. Conducting a trial run on a scrap piece of fabric is wise; there might be remnants of oil or dirt on the rollers that could affect your fabric.
The most effective technique is to wrap your fabric around a wooden dowel that is approximately 10 to 20mm thick and of suitable length. Note that the dowel is not supplied with the machine since your specific needs will vary based on the size of the fabric pieces. It can be advantageous to secure the end of the fabric to the dowel using adhesive tape for stability.
Next, slide the rolled fabric (still on the dowel) through the lateral loops of the colored upright plates where the rollers function, ensuring the fabric unwinds from the bottom of the roll. Insert the leading edge of the fabric straight into the top and bottom front rollers while gently turning the knobs, taking care that the fabric feeds in straight. This initial positioning is crucial as it determines the overall quality of the pleats.

Ensuring an even tension throughout the fabric is vital; achieving the correct balance may take several attempts. You may utilize either or both turning knobs alongside an additional dowel stick placed over the fabric, which should be around 28cm long.
This second dowel can be thicker if preferred; its purpose is to maintain even tension across the fabric's width while allowing you to operate the knobs with both hands. As you adjust the knobs, the fabric passes through the rollers, emerging onto the needles, requiring you to guide it onto the threads to keep them clear.
If you encounter significant resistance while turning the knobs, it indicates that the fabric may have become trapped or bunched. In such a case, you can try reversing the knobs slightly to free the jammed fabric; however, this should be avoided by ensuring straight passage of the fabric through the rollers from the start.
